Exterior
The Lotus EVIJA is striking from first glance; it even appears that the fully carbon fibre chassis hypercar breathes the air that flows past it, creating insane downforce. The EVIJA has a Venturi tunnel through each rear quarter. These are named for the Venturi Effect, the reduction in air pressure which results when it flows through a constricted section of a pipe. When viewed from the rear, each tunnel is edged with a red LED to create a stunning visual effect that's akin to the afterburners on a fighter jet. The bi-plane front splitter was designed in three sections, the larger central area provides air to cool the mid-mounted battery pack, while the air channeled through the two smaller outer sections cools the front e-axle.

Innovations
At the heart of the Lotus EVIJA is a 2,000 kW battery which makes this hypercar eight times more powerful than a Formula E race car. The 'mid-mounted' positioning of the battery pack provides advantages in terms of aerodynamics and weight distribution to optimise handling. Additionally, the absence of traditional door mirrors helps to reducing drag. Cameras integrated into the front wings are electronically deployed on unlock, while another camera built into the roof provides a central view. Images are displayed on three interior screens. Another innovation is the torque-vectoring that is a fully automatic, self-adjusting system that can instantly distribute power to any combination of two, three or four wheels within a fraction of a second.

Interior
Mirroring the exterior airy design, the dominant characteristic of the cabin is the 'floating wing' dashboard, which can be viewed from outside through the windsheild. Hand-trimmed Alcantara and exposed carbon fiber enhance the lightweight look and feel of the Lotus EVIJA. Precision in functionality of a track car and the comfort of a road car meet in the cabin. The F1 style, steering wheel has buttons that are grouped in an intuitive manner and govern functions including phone use, cruise control and DRS deployment. The state-of-the-art digital display, provides the driver with key information such as mode, battery charge and remaining range. British designers intended occupants to feel one with the car, almost as if they were wearing it.
